Classical Mat Pilates is a super accessible way to work out your whole body, it’s great to learn the exercises you can take home to practise. We work on mobility of all your joints and strength and flexibility from top to toe. Classical Mat is progressive course aiming to learn the full repertoire of the original 34 exercises Joseph Pilates designed over 100 years ago to help relieve the ‘complex problems of the modern body’. Choose from Classical Mat Pilates and classes using weights in the studio, or Dancefit classes are in the community halls.



Classical Mat Pilates
Classical Mat Pilates in the Alento Pilates Studio can be booked in 6 week courses throughout the year. Level 1 classes are aimed for those new to Pilates, or those looking for a slower pace of class. Level 2 classes are aimed at those looking for a more challenging workout, they could be suitable for new clients who already have a good standard of strength and flexibility. Beginners starts with 8-10 of the original exercises (all of which can be adapted as needed), these are practised until you are strong and then continuously improved as you start to learn the intermediate set. Then if your body allows you will move on to the advanced set completing all 34 of the original exercises flowing with ease. This is an athletic workout that heats your body from your core, through weekly practise you will become stronger, more flexible and agile. There is something magical about the feel good feeling at the end of class. There are various classes through the week in studio and on zoom. Body Strong
Combined principles of Pilates and Personal Training can be found in this weights small group class. Weights are an important part of taking care of your body, strengthening your bones and increasing muscle density. We use small hand weights to target smaller muscles and then stronger kettlebells for the larger muscles of the lower body. These class are held in the Alento Studio, also over zoom and on demand.
